A few years ago I backed a Kickstarter for a seemingly amazing product. A pair of pants that offered the versatility of using them both for a night out as well as for trekking or climbing. It seemed like a product too good to be true and for many people I believe it also was. The company had huge issues to deliver it’s products in time and the people that recieved the pants thought they were awful and not at all as advertised.
The name of the Company was Wonderous and I would say there are not many wonderful things about that company. However I did recieve my pants and actually really liked them. I started wearing them and especially when travelling I thoroughly enjoyed the idea and reality of only having one pair of pants that I could use for a hike together with boots and a gore tex jacket or with a suit jacket to go to a fancy dinner party. I used the pants almost every day for the last 3 years but they are finally starting to give in. They are really worn out and I had to leave them for repairs at my tailor but they didn’t really do a good job, so I’m closing in on the day when I can’t use these pants anymore. Therefor I started the journey to find the new pair to rule them all. One pair that could be my only pair of pants while travelling. There’s no real ring to 1 pants travelling the same way as 1 bag travelling, but I will stick to the term for now on.
There are plenty of options available now – waaay more than back in the day when I bought the Wonderous pants! Here are the options I found by a quick research.
Outlier Slim Dungarees & NYC Dungarees
Ministry of Supply
Thunderbolt Sportswear
Bluffworks Trousers
Randonee Trousers
Western Rise
Chrome Seneca
Chrome Madrona
Duer No Sweat Pants
There are more options but these were the ones I found to be actaully interesting. The problem is most of them are companies based in the US that have no European shipping facility. The only ones I could find in Sweden were the pants from Chrome and the Duer Sweat Pants, so I ordered all of them. See my first look at the three pants in the video below:
What I found was that both the Chrome pants were way too techy and felt more like i was going on a hike than going on a one bag one pair of pants one pair och shoes trip. I had to send them back straight away. They were both expensive and didn’t feel very nice.
I tried the Duer No Sweat Pants a bit more and really like them! The only problem is that they are navy and I really wanted a black pair. They looked like black on the pictures when I got them. I made some intense research and managed to find them in Black on the German site Sport Conrad and even better at 50% off. I ordered them straight away and I’m now waiting to recieve them.
I recieved the black Duer after a few days and they are pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I’m super keen to use them a bit more to be able to come back with a proper review.
Duer No Sweat Slim Pants are my new 1 pair to rule them all!
