Lenovo Slim 7 Spec Check – 14 & 15 inch with Intel or AMD CPU

Laptops

Lenovo is about to release a machine that I think will finally be worthy enough to be their first test subject for my Youtube channel! I have recieved a ton of requests for the Lenovo Yoga S740 so a lot of people seem to be keen on it’s specification and price but the fact that it lacks an HDMI port really puts me off. I used to have the Lenovo Yoga 720 and I could not stand the lack of HDMI in it. I used a dongle from the USB C which I often forgot and that added bulk to the laptop in it’s sleeve when I brought it. In Lenovo Yoga 730 they added the HDMI port but then I’d already sold my 720 and decided that it would take some time before I went Lenovo again – especially from the Ideapad Lineup!

But finding the Yoga Slim 7 I’m willing to change my mind. My next review unit might actually be a Lenovo. I liked the keyboard of the Yoga 720 and can definitely think to spend some months with the Slim 7 now that is has both USB C charging and HDMI.

I have spent a lot of time with the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 the last year and both this Laptop and MSI Prestige 15 has an extra slot for M2 SSD upgrades. According to the specs I’ve seen and go over in the video above the Lenovo Slim 7 hasn’t got another slot for SSD even in the 15″ model. This is quite a pity as an extra SSD slot would place it right up there with the top most interesting laptop specs on the market.

I’m also very keen to see what the actual weight will be of the different units. If it’s possible to get the 15″ at 1,6 kg that is a fair bit lighter than my Dell laptop and def. an improvement. I assume this spec is not with the GTX graphic option – but we’ll have to wait and see for more info on this.

The main thing that I like about the laptop and the info that is available about it is the multitude of option to select from when it comes to specs. You can get it in 14″ with AMD or 14″ with Intel CPU. There are options for Intel Iris Plus Graphics, MX350 or GTX (not specified which one) graphics. The 14 inch is also available with both a Full HD and a 4K screen. Then there is the 15″ model that only comes with a 14″ screen, and only with Intel CPU but also has the three different options of GPU.

I’m sure within this plethora of options for configuration a ton of people would be able to find a very good laptop that is both slim, relatively lightweight, goodlooking and has all the important ports and features that I prefer a laptop to have.

Now come the sad part. This laptop was meant to become available around the end of April but given the state of the world right now all availability info has been removed and talk of town is it won’t be released until late June, which is such a pity. I’m looking very regularly to see if there are any changes to this but it looks quite negative that I will be able to grab one of these anytime soon to start making content about it.

To be continued!
